From the Manager Ontour byrequest
In 2004, Queensland Arts Council's Ontour byrequest offers its affiliated
Local Arts Councils (LACs) a further range of artists and activities from
which to choose. These activities cover many art forms and are designed
for all age groups. Whether the interest is hands on participation or
sitting back to enjoy, this year's program offers something for everyone.

Ontour byrequest - Jewellery Workshop
by Marisa Comino
Since she was a child, Marisa Comino has
been captivated by the simple shapes and colours of both primitive and
cultural adornment. Her jewellery is designed to empower its wearer through
individuality, strength and grace. She says "Most of my work to date
has been created through experimentation... I enjoy creating order out
of the chaos of scraps of metal on my bench." This spontaneity has
resulted in jewellery designs that are fresh and innovative. During her
workshop, Marisa aims to have each participant make a matching set of
earrings and necklace, using individually chosen materials and encouraging
experimentation to combine materials into an innovative and unusual jewellery
adornment.
Marisa has completed a Bachelor of Design
Studies (Majoring in Graphic Design) at the Queensland College of Art
and has been involved in solo and group exhibitions around South-East
Queensland for the past three years.
